Merida

Merida is the first cria born to Memphis (our dark Gold Legend daughter) and our main herdsire, Xanadu P. Resolute. She was the first cria born this year and the only one we didn't get to see born. We were at our cottage and missed the birth by about 20 minutes. Memphis has been a great mommy lots of milk very attentive, yet still lets us check her baby and weigh her. Merida is sweet, born with a beautiful head style, she is not as dark as I had hoped but her fleece is very organized, fine and showing early signs of character. She was born with pretty wonky little ears, we taped them with vet wrap for a couple days and they look just fine now. We have been shearing some of our crias the past couple years, we are going to be shearing more as we go. Memphis herself had almost 8 inches of fleece by shearing time and actually is in the top 1% EPD for staple length and fleece weight. With this in mind we sheared her at about 2 weeks old. When we shear cria's of first time moms, we shear them on one side, while mom watches at a safe distance and then return the cria to nurse and bond with mom, then we shear the other half, just to ensure that mom doesn't reject her little on.
Merida is growing well and has the same sweet temperament as her mom. We liked this combo so much that we repeated it for 2015.
Here are a few pics or Merida as she has grown this past year. As you can see she is a stunner

Picture Time!

Even eating the snow!

Even eating the snow!

It's that time again! Pictures of our 2013 show cria crop! We let the babies out into the big field-we just had 30+ centimetres-and they had a ball! Lots of running and jumping and getting stuck in the snow. We also took some fleece pictures of our crop. We are VERY impressed, not a bad one in the bunch. We are extremely proud of our newest male Xanadu P. Resolute, very happy with our purchase of this male. Very excited to see how our babies stack up at the AO spring show. As always, all our babies pictures are updated.
Even our newest littlest of the bunch enjoyed the snow!
Proud of our show crop and hope they continue to keep improving everyday.

End of the 2012 Show Season

Deefender

Deefender

Well we are back from the CNASF East Futurity and what a show it was. We took 5 animals and won, two firsts, one second, one third and a fourth.
As well as Grand Champion Medium with Averegan's Melia
Grand Champion Dark with Averegan's Legends Tempest
and SUPREME HUACAYA with Averegan's Melia

What a surpise, we love Melia and she did take Supreme in Navan this past Aug, but we are talking the Futurity, lots of tough competition from all over Canada, quite the accomplishment.

So as we close the 2012 show season we are proud to say that.....

Averegan Alpacas won every show in Ontario in 2012, with three different animals,
SVA Ashton's Deefender (Co-owned with 7th Heaven Alpacas)
Aztec Not too Shahbby (Co-owned with 7th Heaven Alpacas)
Averegan's Melia (a home grown beauty)

we are so thrilled

Looking forward to next year and introducing offspring from our newest herdsire Xanadu P. Resolute
they are already looking great, should be fun to show them

Stay tuned......

Oh they grow soo fast!

Cypress

Cypress

Well we are heading into the late fall and getting everything put away for the long winter. Time to get out the heated water buckets and bring the animals in off of the pasture and up on hay. We have a time change next weekend and chores will have to be done earlier.
We have had some nice sunny days as of late and thought it was a good time to take some updated pictures of this years crias. Boy they grow fast, the June babies are all around 60 pounds.
We actually got some nice fleece pictures of a few of the new bloodlines as well.
We can't wait for April to show these wonderful cria-tions off.

Cria's are arriving daily

Luna X Chipper

Luna X Chipper

What a busy weekend, we were on baby watch for 7 of our due females and 4 of them delivered between Sat am and Mon am. Pleased to say they all arrived safe and sound with no issue, and so far we have 3 Boys and 1 Girl. We are still working on names. The little girl out of DPO Luna X Misty Waters Chipper is the only repeat combo of the season, she is full sister to our two time champ Bella, Only lighter...
We had new arrival Juanita Sky give birth to a stunning fawn Shahtoosh boy. Our other new girl Diamonte's Goldie Fawn gave birth to a brilliantly shiny white boy out of our newest herdsire Resolute. This boy is shinier than some suri's. Our best girl Faith, mom to our fawn grand Champion Melia gave birth to her first boy in 6 years, a light fawn out of Resolute, this one is a bit mismarked on his ears and face but his fleece is going to be something.
I have a few pics, but the weather has been extremely humid and/or wet. I will get some updated pics when they dry up completely.

Thank You 7th Heaven Alpacas

A BIG THANK YOU, to my friend Sally at 7th Heaven Alpacas for her purchase of Gia our beautiful Chipper daughter out of Amber Canelo. Gia has been one of our favourites from the moment she was born, lovely fine fleece and personality plus. She has a ton of hidden colour in her pedigree, black on both sides, grey and browns. She should bring tons of great genetics to her dark breeding program.
Im sure she will love her new home and brand new barn. We will miss her.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
